The Robinson Memorial Hospital is managed by the Northern Health and Social Care Trust.

Patients are admitted to the Robinson Hospital for further rehabilitation following medical illness or surgery. Patients are also admitted for further assessment of their care needs following an episode of illness. Patients are transferred to the Robinson Hospital from local hospitals and from the regional centres in Belfast and Londonderry. The staff in these transferring units can make a referral for a community bed if the patient is assessed as needing “ step down” care. Patients can also be “ stepped up” by their own GP to a community bed if it is felt to be appropriate. Admissions are typically 1-2 weeks: the Robinson Hospital does not offer long term care.
Nursing care in the hospital is led by Sister Joanne Montgomery and her team of nurses and health care assistants.
Medical care in the hospital is provided by local General Practitioners, with support from specialist nursing staff and Consultant staff as required. Professionals from different disciplines- occupational therapist, physiotherapist, community social worker, dietician- will be involved in providing multi-disciplinary rehabilitation with the aim of returning the patient safely to their own home. Some patients will be assessed as having care needs which could not be met in their own home and in these cases the staff and community social worker will work with the patient and their family so they can be discharged to the most appropriate care setting.
Hand hygiene, environmental cleanliness and prevention of hospital- acquired infections are of the highest importance in the Robinson Hospital.
Visitors are asked NOT to come to the hospital if they have
• Vomiting and/or diarrhoea and until they have been symptom free for 48 hours
• Coughs, colds or flu-like symptoms
• Any infectious condition
