Mental Health Assessments

The CAHMS service aims to provide therapeutic help for children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties within the NHSCT area.

Referrals

Referrals are accepted from a wide range of sources including GPs, Hospital and Community Consultants, Educational Psychologists, Social Workers, Community Nurses, Schools.

Treatments

Where appropriate, the CAHMS staff based at Robinson Memorial Hospital will provide treatment and management for teenagers and young people with Mental Health issues.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAHMS) is an integrated specialist community-based multi-disciplinary service staffed by professionals who have training and expertise in working with children, young people and their families. The service has two bases(Antrim and Ballymoney) and three teams.

The Ballymoney team services the Causeway catchment area. The team is staffed by a range of professionals including Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists; Clinical Nurse Specialists; Social Workers; Clinical Psychologists; Family Therapists and administrative support. Their training and expertise ensures a comprehensive understanding of difficulties presented allied to a well recognised range off therapeutic interventions.
